Wake for Grandma

Journal Entry: Mon Jun 29, 2009, 2:15 PM
Commission info - [link]

Today we finally put Grandma's ashes in her plot beside Grandpa. It's been a year since her death and finally we were able to lay her to rest. It was a little affair, but the area was beautiful and there was quite a few people there in memory of my feisty Irish granny.

I did not expect to cry. Oh but I did.
Thankfully no sobbing, but my eye still hurt from all the crying.

I also slipped on the grass and managed to really badly twist my leg muscles. I almost thought I'd broken my leg for a moment, but it's only sprained.

Today I've seen monarch butterflies multiple times and it has made me feel so good. I drew them in the pictures I did for my grandma, so it's almost like she was given us her blessing.

I still miss her a lot, but she's moved on and I need to move on as well.

I love you Grandma Mary.

-Hug for you-

It's always hard laying someone you love to rest. It's been a little over a year since my step grandma died, and I never thought I would cry as much as I did... Though, I think mine was more out of guilt for not getting to know her better before she did.

But I'm glad that you got to finally lay her to rest. I think there's always a sense of relief when you do.

You're welcome, saying goodbye to a loved one is never easy.

I am so glad you handled saying goodbye so well, I am sorry I was such a mess; but I think we gave Mom a good send-off, and kept my promise to her, that she would have family, friends and music in her memory. I love you stinky.
